Chizi Duru

Chizi Duru, who recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, started her YouTube channel on May 3, 2008 and as since amassed more than 100,000 subcribers. A New Yorker of Nigerian descent, Chizi shares her journey in hopes of being an inspiration to women and girls with natural hair. It was Chizi’s father who encouraged her to go natural. “Your hair needs sun and water. You’ve never…You’ve never cut it before. This is…This is virgin hair. This is the hair you came out of the womb with. You need to cut it.”
Chizi’s father gave her much more than encouragement. He basically let her know that natural hair was beautiful and that her beauty was not defined by the length or texture of her hair. All daughters need validation from their fathers and, since this Sunday is Father’s Day, what a privilege it is to acknowledge a father who has given his daughter such a treasure. Below, Chizi shares her experience with the tapered haircut and perm rod set done by hairstylist JayHairBigga (Julie).

Think again if you thought perm rods only worked on long hair. Natural Hair Rebel achieves the look on her tapered cut, and it doesn’t even take as long. Watch the tutorial .

Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right. Many people think you need long hair for a good perm rod set.
